How a latch works

  1. 1

    Pick your apps

Choose the apps and websites that eat your day. Categories too.

  2. 2

    Tap the dial

30 minutes, an hour, two hours, or a length you set.

  3. 3

    Open one anyway

You get a question instead of the app.

Latched until 10:24 AM
Why are you opening this right now? The urge usually passes.
Never mind
THE SHIELD

Blocked means blocked.

  • One button Never mind, and it closes
  • No way past There's nothing to tap
  • Sites too Same shield in Safari
GOLDEN LATCH

Starts. Can't be stopped.

No end-early button. No shield escape. The one way out costs you a 30-second lockpick hold and one of three tickets.

No bypass

Why people switch

Built-in app limits

A limit you can raise isn't a limit. "Ignore for today" becomes muscle memory.

Latch has no ignore button.

Blockers with a way through

"Continue anyway" works until the day you need it to work.

The shield has no way through. Golden Latch has no exit.

VPN and profile blockers

Your traffic through someone else's server, to block a website.

No VPN, no profile. Apple's Screen Time, on your phone.

Questions

Is Latch free?
One latch a day at 30 minutes, one hour or two hours. Three Golden Latches. Full stats, history and Focus tab, not gated. Latch Pro is an optional in-app purchase adding unlimited latches, custom lengths, schedules and unlimited Golden Latch.
Can you get around the block?
Not from the shield. It has one button, Never mind, which closes it. To use a blocked app you reopen Latch and end the latch on purpose. Golden Latch removes even that.
Does it block websites too?
Yes. Latch shields web domains alongside apps, through Apple's own picker, so a site is blocked in Safari the same way an app is.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email and no login. Latch works the moment you install it.
Does Latch collect my data?
No servers, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. Sessions, streaks, schedules and settings stay on your iPhone. Screen Time hands Latch opaque tokens, not app names, and the Focus tab's numbers are computed inside a sandboxed Apple extension that cannot send them anywhere, including back to Latch. Delete the app and your history goes with it.
What is a Golden Latch?
A session with no end-early button and no shield escape. It holds until time is up. The one way out: hold a lockpick for 30 seconds, spending one of a limited number of tickets. Three come with a new install.
Does it work on Android, iPad or Mac?
Latch needs iOS 18 or later. It's designed for iPhone, and it runs on iPad in iPhone compatibility mode rather than as a native iPad app. No Android, Mac or Apple Watch version.
Why does it ask for Screen Time access?
iOS won't let any app shield another without explicit permission. Latch asks once, during onboarding. Revoke it any time in iOS Settings and Latch tells you rather than failing quietly.
Does it need a VPN or a profile?
No. Latch uses Apple's built-in Screen Time frameworks: no VPN, no DNS profile, no MDM profile, and no traffic routed anywhere.
